Visitors were able to tour the modern state-of-the-art campus at The Icon, located next to Basildon Train Station, and also had the chance to talk with Principal Designate of the school Jasmine West on Thursday 14 February.

Following the successful event, Jasmine West said: “The response by parents to NCB Studio School and its curriculum aims has been overwhelming.  We have offered places to young people who are focussed and willing to work hard. Over the next month we will continue to interview learners and positively welcome applications from young people who are interested in our specialisms of health, childcare or sport.”

The first intake at the School this September is just 92 students and a number of applications have already been received.

Supported by Seevic College and Anglia Ruskin University, NCB Studio School is a new approach to education for young people aged 14 to 19. It will focus on the specialisms of Health & Social Care, Childcare and Sport.

The curriculum at NCB Studio School is designed to meet the needs and aspirations of students of all abilities, through a new and innovative approach to teaching and learning.

Students will study a unique combination of academic and vocational qualifications, including GCSEs, BTECs & A Levels.

The school will also work with key employers in Basildon, who will commission projects to be integrated into the main curriculum. The employers will also provide workshops, support and weekly work experience opportunities to help students achieve their full potential. Current employer support includes Basildon Hospital, Basildon Sporting Village and local nurseries.

All students will have a personal learning coach to help develop their skills and will receive one-to-one coaching to help them achieve their goals. They will also study in small classes of approximately 15.
