Level 1 BTEC Diploma
One-Year Course

As part of this course you will get theopportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques that are essential for successful performance in the Sport & Leisure industry.

You’ll achieve a nationally recognised and work-related qualification.

How will I learn?
You will be taught using a variety of teaching methods such as Lectures, group work, practical, coaching, discussions and individual support.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through observations of your practical work, and through written coursework. Assessments throughout the course vary from assignment to assignment, giving you a chance to showcase your development through a variety of different methods.

General Entry Requirements
Though you do not require any formal qualifications for entry on to this course, you will need to attend an interview at the School. You will be required to sit an initial assessment and provide a reference, and will be expected to attend a guidance interview at the School. If you are coming from another school or college, you will need an 87% attendance record.

Specific Entry Requirements
You will need to enjoy sports, and have the desire to improve your own personal fitness. You must be willing to work within a team, and be prepared to develop your personal qualities. You must be enthusiastic, energetic and show an interest in developing a range of skills and techniques that will help you in gaining employment in the sports and leisure industry. 

What could I do next?
Successful completion will allow you to progress on to a Level 2 qualification, either a Level 2 Diploma or the CYQ. You could also progress to employment in the Sport & Active Leisure sector, or progress to other general work-related qualifications like a Level 2 Apprenticeship.
