Level 2 BTEC Diploma
One-Year Course

As part of this course, you will study a number of different topics, including:

  • Communication
  • Health & safety
  • Life stage development,
  • The human body
  • Equality and diversity
  • Anatomy.

How will I learn?
Through a mixture of lectures, discussions, group work, practical demonstrations, role play and work experience. You will also be expected to undertake a significant amount of independent study outside of timetabled classes. You’ll also complete a minimum of 60
hours work experience.

How will I be assessed?
All units are internally assessed and there are no examinations. You will complete assignments for each unit and these could include: written essays, verbal reports, assessed role-play and presentations, case studies, observations, diaries or journals.

General Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at Grade D to G, OR a Pass in a relevant Level 1 qualification. You will be required to sit an initial assessment and provide a reference, and will be expected to attend a guidance interview at the School.

You will also need an 87% attendance record from your previous school/college and able to demonstrate a keen interest in Health & Social Care.

Specific Entry Requirements
We’ll ask you to show that you are a responsible person with the skills and qualities needed to care for vulnerable client groups. You will also be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS – formerly CRB) check.

What could I do next?
You could progress to a Level 3 course, such as the Health & Social Care BTEC Subsidiary or Extended Diploma. You can also apply for employment within the Health & Social Care sectors.
