Following a full options appraisal and detailed consultation with the Regional Schools’ Commissioner Tim Coulson, Department for Education, Education Funding Agency, Essex County Council and local headteachers, St Clere’s Co-operative Academy Trust has reluctantly taken the difficult decision to close New Campus Basildon Studio School at the end of August 2017. This decision is based on a lack of pupil numbers and a poor Ofsted outcome in January 2016.
Chief Executive Officer Paul Griffiths said the decision to close was “incredibly difficult but necessary to ensure pupils were given the best possible educational chances.”
Admissions to Year 10 were suspended in September 2016, when St Clere’s Co-operative Academy Trust took over as the studio school’s sponsor, pending investigations into the long term viability of the school. Year 11 and 13 students will be able to finish their courses this summer and the remaining Year 12 students have received intensive support to complete their programme of study or obtain places with other providers.
New Campus Basildon officially closes as an educational establishment on 31st August 2017. Please direct any queries regarding the school to the Trust Secretary, St. Clere's Co-operative Academy Trust - email@example.com
